Our new partnership with The Waterloo Foundation
15 June 2022
We are delighted that The Waterloo Foundation have pledged £104,600 over the next three years to ensure Embracing Complexity remains a hub for collaboration to support people with neurodevelopmental conditions.
The Waterloo Foundation have been the majority funder of Embracing Complexity since its inception. Thanks to their generous support the coalition has grown to over 60 members and set out the need for joined-up thinking in research and clinical practice, as well as being in a position to speak with a collective voice when Covid-19 and lockdowns impacted the communities we serve.
This new grant will enable us to upscale our work on supporting the research infrastructure necessary to build the evidence base across neurodiversity as a whole. We also plan to consult our member organisations through in-person events and online to highlight shared priorities and facilitate conversation and collaboration between members.
"Over the past few years more and more professionals, researchers and charities have recognised the importance of co-occurring and overlapping neurodevelopmental conditions in their own work," said Dr James Cusack, chair of Embracing Complexity and CEO of Autistica, "Increasingly, research is pointing towards the potential of a multi-dimensional approach to neurodiversity, supporting individuals based on their needs and strengths rather than their diagnosis."
We are currently recruiting for a pro-active, research-focused Embracing Complexity Lead to manage the day-to-day running of the coalition and lead on our projects. The postholder will be employed by our host charity, Autistica. Applications have now closed.
It is an exciting time for Embracing Complexity as we build on this early progress to drive forward research infrastructure and we are incredibly grateful to The Waterloo Foundation for their continued support.
